Blogger hates me. I haven't been able to log in in days.

Maybe too, last night and this morning anyway, there's a weak wireless moment at my new place, which is a palace by the way.

I got happy Saturday when I returned to work and found copies of Alli Warren's Cousins waiting for me, which I loved immediately. It didn't seem to be fronting any shields, but if poetics is your coin and you just can't help yourself, go ahead and write your 1,000-page adumbration. You might get, um, close.

Cousins only sucked when it ended, that it ended, my semaphorical more plea to please not stop thrashing a little bit when I closed it.

I keep thinking if I type quickly enough, Blogger will publish this.

Zow.

Sunday afternoon at the Make-Out Room was alarmingly good, although nobody was injured. Noelle Kocot is not an endorsed candidate but a free charge, and I'm voting for her.

I'm just throwing the rest of my dinette set out the window and seeing if this post will take.

I Hate American Airlines

Worst day of flying imaginable. Certainly worst in my life. I had a first class ticket from Hartford/Springfield to Oakland, scheduled to arrive at 7:30 pm. Instead I ended up flying economy, apologies deferred, and arrived in Oakland near midnight, of course without my baggage. If the expensive extra sharp Vermont cheddar I bought for you goes bad—fuck I'm sorry.

The only thing that nearly saved it: reading The Anger Scale from O'Hare to Oakland.

Now it's almost 1:30 a.m. That'll be me opening the store tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock.

P.S. John Carlos was cool.

TROUBADOUR BOOKS

I've talked about this place before. I returned yesterday and bought The Hudson Mystery by Geoffrey O'Brien, Leave the Light On by Michael Magee, and Dead Man by Gary Sullivan. Also second copies of Invisible Bride by Tony Tost and Poems and Antipoems by Nicanor Parra, because someone will need them. A paper copy of Russell Edson's The Falling Sickness. And I upgraded to a cloth Madonna anno domini first. I was set back $28 for the lot of it. If I could urge you to go, I'm urging you.

I keep thinking about the copy of Baffling Means by Clark Coolidge and Philip Guston I saw. Like it's haunting or taunting me.

no count

Most of these mean nought, and the one or two I might explain are secretly unexplainable.

melancholia's tremulous dreadlocks issue 6

E. and I got our gobs smacked and brainpans whitened yesterday from overstimulation at Troubadour Books in No. Hatfield, whose photographs I lost in a Windows drag-and-drop mishap I'm trying to forget. If I tell you their used poetry collection is utterly fantastic, incomparable, the best that I have ever seen and almost beyond imagining—I will not be exaggerating. If you're anywhere in or near Western Massachusetts—go.

I got Simmel, Veblen, Wieners, Gordon, Kocot. I don't know what I got. I got a signed copy of Bernadette Mayer's new book with Bill Berkson, What's Your Idea of a Good Time? Truthfully, it was overwhelming. We had to take a break to go outside to get air. We smoked, and we swore a lot. I didn't even know what to buy, there was still so much to look at, and the fact that everything in the store this weekend is 35% off only made the trip more confusing and bliss-confounding.

I try again tomorrow.

Puffed up kissing the stone feet of Pound and Olson: dangerous beginning to any conversation. For instance, I might have to leave. Put my head somewhere else. Beg off sleeve-cough stagebite.

Jenseits von Milch und Hosen

Been very busy, now happily, with my recent move. I've wanted to blog, but by the time my eyes get behind the screen late at night, they're wobbly.

As now.

I've still scarcely unpacked. That is, I haven't really even begun to unpack. Next Tuesday I leave for Massachusetts and Brooklyn and Massachusetts and probably Vermont and Massachusetts. Oh yeah—and technically I'm flying in and out of Connecticut. I don't know why I'm typing this, this way. Here where I live now, basking of course, in the Golden State, some people do find it strange to hear or think about or actually to drive 15 minutes and be in another state, or 15 more minutes and be in another state again. I'm feeling that wobbliness here. The eyeballs.

Saturday's Artifact. Monday Matthea Harvey and Cort Day at yours truly. Next Thursday 7:30 PM when I'm not here Rodney Koeneke and Kaya Oakes and Heather Hazuka read at Modern Times Bookstore. I just learn, by the way, holy shit Rodney's moving to Portland (the one in Oregon). Rodney, I hardly knew ye! I just have your weird books. You're a sweet man. Do you know anybody up there? (Ha!) Best of luck!

Earlier Thursday, 4:30 PM, Oct. 12, Barbara Jane Reyes and Yunte Huang read at the Poetry Center. Both their TinFish books are something to read. Go.

Doubtless other stuff. Even stuff I know and I remember, yet I can't retrieve.

Wobbley yours, goodnight.

P.S. Also that Thursday 6 PM Claudia Rankine at the Holloway Series.
