Calm, but the goat's in a fit.

Mark Antony does not show. All this Fordmania reels me back my boyhood, to 1976 when I was very small and saw my first homeless person.

Gerald Ford has died, and I still don't feel healed from Watergate.

I started reading a novel today: this. I should say: I read Calvino's introduction and Weaver's forward. Then I got spit off the bus, like a peanut shell.

Tonight I scored another Baffler, this time Number Ten. I seem to be collecting them. I read a poem by Chris Stroffolino on the bus home, then began an essay on the novelist Pamela Moore. My roommate's just read Chris's Light As a Fetter and said it's good. The jacket's great. Because of this love-thing I have for you, my readers, there's a pic here and a real steal here.

Will The Baffler ever return? Is Gerald Ford really dead?

Melville House sent me their Spring catalogue today. I am too tired to type anymore, but here's your clue: Ann Beattie = Tao Lin.

For those of you in other climes, we had a nice little earthquake tonight. It kind of rolled by, wobbling the windows down the building and around the corner.

It was definitely an earthquake. We didn't break any china.

I am out of private time and am suspended by grace. Therefore, please keep shopping.

i abstain mostly rather than pulling out. i get the migglemus, the exploitation, the potlatch. i've heard the incentives as well as the death threats.

mostly i believe in without practicing public excess, a human right predating jesus and capitalism.

PEACE ON EARTH.

i miss it.
