ADAM'S BOOKS
456 BERGEN ST., BROOKLYN
ADAM SAYS:

Oh my dear Friends,

1.
My laptop was stolen and I lost all my email addresses, so please forward this to any and all, who perhaps will email adamsbooks@earthlink.net to reinstate themselves on the ADAM'S BOOKS email list.

2.
We recently had our first annual GRAND OPENING celebration party here at Adam's Books -- it was some kind of utopian dream, to have all the neighborhood's finest writers come to read their new and vital works, among books new and old. There were, I thought, a number of surprising intersections and synchronicities, and/but/or some unusual conjunctions, in the work and people presented here: Our neighborhood is alive and well, and needs no Manhattan for culture. The Blue Sky muffins were delicious too, and complemented nicely the Pabst Blue Ribbon.

3.
We enjoyed it so much that we're planning more readings & events in the store soon: watch this space for details.

4.
Amazon, Schmamazon:
Order your books from ADAM'S!
We'll give you 20% off, and we can ship directly to you or your giftee, so you can save yourself a trip to the store.
You don't even have to live in Brooklyn:
just send an email to this address with the words "SPECIAL ORDER" in the subject line...

5.
ASK ME ABOUT GIFT CERTIFICATES.
Go ahead, ask me.

6.
Somebody once interviewed me about the store, and published the results: http://brooklyn.untilmonday.com/story/adams_books

Also, the current Park Slope Reader wrote a very nice little piece about us. We are famous!

7.
It is our considered opinion that today's mainstream publishers price their books far too high -- especially those shiny new hardcovers that will one day flood the used book market and eventually find themselves on the 99-cent cart out on Bergen Street. If we were in charge of the world, books would be cheaper. (We'd kick the Republicans out of office, too. Oh, and there'd be more and better poetry on the high school curriculum, and every April 19 would be International Wear-A-Funny-Hat Day.) In the meantime, we do what we can:

10% off each new book over $16.
15% off each new book over $24.
20% off each new book over $30.
And, as always, 20% off all new kids books.

8.
I'm sorry I sold that 1787 edition of Samuel Johnson's Dictionary before you even had a chance to look at it. But if you're interested in an advance reader of the first american edition of Animal Farm, let me know.

With none but good wishes,
Adam
