There have been rumors. In the last weeks the rumors have gotten chunkier, but today's phone call from the media — asking how we felt about it — seems confirmation. We have outstared our neighbors; Barnes Ignoble across the street is closing.
wow, that's actually pretty amazing. if you think about it, a lot of big businesses have left berkeley (the gap on telegraph, limited express on bancroft, etc) and opened up in emeryville. there's a b&n at bay street in e-ville, which seems to have been quite savvy in attracting and keeping all those big big big businesses there.
5 RIDERS:
good job
victory
I feel bad for the Barnes & Noble employees who are losing their jobs, but other than that--wow! A victory for independent bookstores!
wow -- against the tide!
