My maternal paternal great-grandfather (if you can say that), Harold L. Robinson, Sr., some time between 1921 and 1931 when Rolls Royce operated a factory in Springfield. (back row, farthest right)
my dad wrote for a newspaper (cities used to have newspapers, and the newspapers used to have writers) and this was taken by a photographer on the newspaper.
incidentally (very) this is the same newspaper that was the only place to publish any of emily dickinson's poetry in her lifetime. she would have read this newspaper, but of course she never read my dad, because she was already dead.
